agdalena Abakonowicz: début des années 80, années no
ires en Pologne, son exposition à Paris, comme l’implosion
d’une bombe dans son message venu de derrière le Ride
au de fer. Message sur le destin de l’homme dont elle impose, face à
la Foule sans Tête, la résistance silencieuse. Seule, elle a osé porter
témoignage pour hier et aujourd’hui de l’impérieuse injonction de
l’un contre tous.
Belle, forte, frontale, à cette image, elle force depuis toujours to

w Polsce, jej wystawa w Paryżu jak eksplozja bomby
w swoim przesłaniu spoza “Żelaznej Kurtyny”. Przesłaniu
o losie człowieka wobec bezgłowego tłumu, któremu przeciwstawia
swój milczący opór. Samotnie ośmielała się nieść świadectwo jed
nostki wobec wszystkich - za wczoraj i za dziś.
Piękna, silna, z podniesioną głową, zjednoczona z tym wizerunkiem
od zawsze włada moją wyobraźnią.

znanej przez International Sculpture Center w Nowym Jorku, 20 września 2005 r.

agdalena Abakanowicz: in the beginning of the Eighties,
black period in Poland, her exhibition in Paris like the
implosion of a bomb carrying the message coming from
the other side of the Iron Curtain. A message about destiny of
mankind on which she imposed - against the crowd without head her silent resistance. She, and she alone, has dared to bear witness
- yesterday as today - to the urgent command of one against all.
BeautifUl, strong, head-on, corresponding to this image, she com
mands since ever my entre admiration.
The speech delivered during the ceremony of giving the Lifetime Achievement Award
granted by the International Sculpture Center, New York, September 20, 2005.
