Started in 2008, the Digital Ethnography project has as its object the digitalization of the most important Polish anthropological journals such as Lud; Etnografia Polska; PSL–Konteksty, and selected anthropological books in Polish.
Articles from the journals are available online in the PIA’s Digital Library. The Library is the first Polish digital library devoted to anthropology, with a full text search (like JStor or ProQuest), available to readers around the globe free of charge.
A great part of the content of the articles published in the Digital Library are unique records relevant to the culture and tradition. They are used by students, scientists, researchers as well as custodians, cultural managers, social activists, teachers and journalists.
An important innovation in the PIA’s Digital Library is the implementation of Zotero manager, a programme which facilitates the creating of bibliography and also helps with collecting data.
The PIA plans to complement the content of its Digital Library with the most recent texts published in other anthropological journals, as well as with those published in anthologies, and in readers in anthropology.
Full text search of the articles is of great importance to education, research, and for the e-learning process.
Free access to the journals and books means that everyone can access the Library without any financial restrictions. Recently, the Library has been included into the Digital Libraries Federation.
Please note that the English version of the Library website is under construction.
